Social Identity
In the creative practices of Li Jinxiu and Xie Yijuan, lines are more than visual marks—they are questions, gestures, and ongoing dialogues. Through sketching, weaving, and reflection, the artists entwine media, memory, and time, spinning life into form.
Among Li Jinxiu’s belongings, a wooden spool emerges as a quiet anchor—a tool once used to spin fiber into thread. It carries the weight of industry, the passage of generations, and the evolving rhythm of labor. In this simple object, the core of the artist’s creation reveals itself: a life spun, twisted, and tempered by experience.
In this installation, colored yarns are knotted and wrapped around plastic spools, suspended in space and gently touching the blue carpet below. These lines and colors flow like roots, trees, water, and waves—echoing the energy and presence left behind by both artists.
This work is a tribute to that vitality. Each line drawn, each thread cast, begins a ripple—an echo of their enduring spirit.
