Supported in Motion-No.1
Embroidery on hemp fabric, assorted embroidery threads, sequins, beads, and wooden frame
50 x 50 x 1.5 cm
2026

This embroidered painting on hemp fabric presents a self-imagined portrait shaped by the artist’s embodied working process. The piece captures the artist in motion while weaving, wearing a back support belt that reflects the physical demands of her practice. Removed from its original medical function, the support belt is conceptually transformed—appearing as a skeletal structure in one work and as an organic branching form in another. Visual ambiguities, such as loose warp and weft threads extending beyond the frame, invite viewers to consider both the material and symbolic aspects of the artist’s actions. Using the refined technique of French Lunéville embroidery, the artist turns hand gestures into lines and textures. The crochet hook becomes a drawing tool and colored threads become paint, blurring the boundaries between bodily support, creative labor, and artistic expression.
