ENDLESS ACCUMULATION Project
The artist approaches the sea as a fluid textile structure—one that extends beyond geography to become a network of continuous connection, tension, and weaving. Taking Keelung Harbor as a point of departure, the work links the history of the port city with the ongoing circulation of natural rubber from Southeast Asia to Taiwan through maritime routes.
At the center of the installation, a wooden suitcase functions both as a personal vessel and as a metaphorical cargo container, carrying ideas of movement, exchange, and transportation. Field research materials, rubber collection bowls, rubber textiles, fishing nets, woven sculptures, and video works connect Keelung Harbor, Southeast Asian rubber plantations, and industrial production sites, tracing the movement of materials across the sea.
Through textile practices, material transformation, and artistic experimentation, the artist intertwines childhood memories, local knowledge, and transregional landscapes of labor. Rubber becomes not simply an industrial material, but a medium that connects the sea, transportation, labor, and memory. The Unsolidified Sea reconsiders the ocean as a fluid textile network that continuously weaves together history, landscape, and lived experience.
